Solving sludge bulking -- a sewage treatment plant in Tongzhou, Beijing
Application background:
The total design scale of a sewage treatment plant in Tongzhou, Beijing is 180,000 m3/d. In winter, there will be problems such as poor sludge settling and serious sludge running in secondary sedimentation tank, which lead to greater operating pressure of subsequent advanced treatment system, especially membrane pollution, posing challenges to site maintenance and water quality standards.
Solution:
By adding NFSSS nano-flocculant into the secondary sedimentation tank, the sludge settling performance of the secondary sedimentation tank is strengthened, the sludge level is rapidly reduced, the treatment scale is improved, and the average mixing rate is controlled within 20mL/m3, which can effectively solve the mud running problem of the secondary sedimentation tank and ensure the normal operation of the whole process.

Water quality impact:
The performance of sludge settling was improved by the addition of reagent, and the effluent indexes were improved significantly.
Settlement performance:
After the water intake of the sedimentation tank was increased, the sedimentation performance was improved by the addition of NFSSS nano-flocculant, and the mud level was gradually reduced. The mud running problem was effectively solved within 1.5 hours.
